I do wonder whether she would be so badly thought of by some had she been a man. There seems to be an aversion to women in conterverisial positions and making difficult- sometimes ruthless choices. <br />I am reminded of that other Margaret- Margaret of Anjou, Queen to Henry VI of England from 1445 until his deposition in 1461 (after which she spent years fighting for his throne, and thier son's right to it) who has been vilified as near enough the devil incarnate for 500 or more years (and still is by some today), but was really no more ruthless or bloodthirsty than the men around her.
